Dear Sarah. I just love reading your posts. It makes me go back in time and when you write it takes me on a journey. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and that the New Year will bring happiness and joy to you and your family. Keep writing and sharing. One day I am going to get there and have you take me on a real journey. Love you and your sweet family. Hugs. Aunt Debra

I love the gingerbread pics when the kids were little too!! Just precious, and love that they still enjoy them as big kids now too! One of our little traditions is to read through the small stack of Christmas-themed books we collected when the kids were very young. One of them, Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree, I like to read in a British accent, it just gives it so much charm. A favorite you may also have collected is Letters from Father Christmas by JR Tolkien. Nearly every page includes an envelope with a reproduction of the letter he would send his boys every year. The antics of Polar Bear make us very nostalgic! I'm so happy you found two more tomes to enjoy at the book market. Thanks for all your wonderful recommendations!!

Reading sounds wonderful! My dad used to read A Christmas Carol to us every year. I’ve never read Tolkien’s Letters from Father Christmas. It sounds perfect to read aloud.

Sarah, first of all, major props for including a reference to Arcane in this newsletter. That's cool that your kids watch it. I started to watch the first episode, loved it, but didn't continue because my wife doesn't like so much gore. But ironically here I am writing this comment a day removed from finishing the second season of Squid Game, which is like one of the goriest shows I've ever seen. Wife was fine with that one. Go figure lol. So in the Netherlands they have two Christmases? If so, I like that. We need to adopt that tradition everywhere. I am of the strong mindset that you can never have enough Christmas. Are you excited for the new Narnia movies coming out? The director of the Barbie movie last year is going to adapt two of the books I think.

Why yes, I do recall some rumblings about a Narnia movie reboot. I think they’ve been through a couple of directors already. I always thought it was a shame not to complete the series. Will they be starting over? Or just pick up where they left off?

I think they are starting over. New rumors are that they are going to start with the very first book, which has always been my favorite. :)

I’m obdurately old-fashioned in considering The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe the first book always and forever. Putting them in simple chronological order makes no sense at all to me, especially since The Horse and His Boy takes place during The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. But I am very fond of The Magicians Nephew too. I just think it loses some impact without the background of books 1-5. In my opinion, the original order is perfect.

I understand for sure. Here’s to hoping we get some fun Narnia movies in the next few years :)
